I am writing to endorse Dan Campbell in his campaign for state representative.
My family and many others in Auburn have known Dan for many years, and he always impressed me as an excellent coach and mentor. It didn’t matter if one’s child was an elite athlete or a beginner. A man of strong faith, he had kindness, empathy and advice for everyone.
He also got results: In 30-plus years at Edward Little High, St. Dom’s, UMaine Farmington and Thomas College, his teams won 14 state championships and one national championship, with Dan winning coach of the year five times.
His positive influence wasn’t just on the playing fields, though. He was also a trusted and valued counselor to students with substance abuse issues.
Coach Dan would be a great representative for Auburn and Minot, and he would be responsive and engaged with all of the residents, regardless of their politics.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
