FARMINGTON — Mt. Blue High School cross country recently competed at the Festival of Champions race in Belfast. This is the largest cross country race in Maine with 85 Maine schools and 11 from out of state taking part.

The Mt. Blue boys team placed 12th overall. There were four separate boys races. Henri McCourt placed 12th overall in the seeded boys race. Other top runners for Mt. Blue were Ben Hatch (90), Eli Young (107), Luke Doscinski (115), and Eli Hoeft (139).

There were two sections of unseeded boys. Tyler Leighton ran a personal best taking 54th place in the first race. In the second race, Damian Wynn (27) and Nick DeMarco (74) were the top Cougar runners. In addition, Teddy McLeod, Nick Bell, and Wyatt Hall each ran personal bests.

In the freshman race, Wyatt Oliver (24) and Luka Burns (42) were tops for Mt. Blue, both in personal bests. Also running personal bests were Oak Median, Johnny Bell, Rory Whitmore, and Cridder Hensley.

The Mt. Blue girls team placed 37th overall. There were three girls races. Nora McCourt had the top finish, placing 53rd in the seeded race. Getting personal records in the seeded race were Elizabeth Strickland, Astrid Jones, and Lucy Knowles.

In the unseeded girls race, Juliette Poussard had a personal best. In the freshman race Karoline Gonzales placed 54th and also ran a personal best.
