POLAND — The Select Board on Tuesday night approved expenditures made by the Community and Economic Development Committee in its sponsorship of two community events.
Stacey Bsullak, vice chairperson of the committee, appeared before the board requesting the board’s endorsement.
The committee gave a grant of $4,882.50 to the Christmas in Poland group for expenses associated with a two-day holiday festival Dec. 7 and 8. The money will be used for police services, an 18-passenger street-approved trolley which will provide shuttle service, lighting and wreath decorations for the downtown area, and DJ services.
Bsullak said over 3,000 people attended the festival last year.
The board also approved the expenditure of $1,500 by the committee for renting a tent for a musical fundraiser at Poland Provisions in support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
In other business, the board was informed that Poland Fire Rescue Benevolent Association is looking to spend up to $15,000 for the purchase of a cargo trailer to store its fundraising equipment by the fire station.
Town Manager Matt Garside informed the selectpersons that Oldcastle Lawn & Garden donated 80 pallets of top soil for use by the town for municipal projects as well as to residents for their use.
