Old South Church Concert Series plans to welcome the award winning, worldly acclaimed duo of Chris Newman (guitarist) and Máire Ní Chathasaigh (Celtic harp) to Farmington for the first time at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at 235 Main St., in Farmington. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Since its début on Cambridge Folk Festival’s main stage in 1987, the partnership of Newman and Ní Chathasaigh has presented its unique musical vision in 24 countries on five continents to venues ranging from the tiniest of village halls to palaces in Kyoto and Istanbul, London’s Barbican, Cologne’s Philharmonie, and town halls from Sydney to Seattle. The duo has recorded nine CD’s and given TV and radio performances on five continents.

Those who attend can expect a blend of traditional Irish music, hot jazz, bluegrass and baroque, spiced with new compositions.

General admission tickets will cost $25 or $20 for seniors (65-plus) and students (12 and younger).
