DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Mexico Congregational Church’s annual Christmas at the Green Fair is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2. The church is at 163 Main St. and, for those with special needs, accessible by using the elevator entrance on Mitchell Street.
Pick up delicious bake sale treats, takeout containers of comfort foods, stocking stuffers and holiday gifts. You could win a prize in our brown bag raffle.
Tickets for raffles of a handmade quilt and a wooden chest have been on sale for a few months, for which drawings are to he held at the fair, as well as the raffle of a “calendar” of gift cards. Explore our holiday treasures from the attic to find new-to-you gifts and decorations.
A corn chowder and apple crisp lunch is planned from 11:30 a.m. until sold out.
Questions should be directed to the church at 207-364-8603 — leave a message after the tone.
Thank you, Ms. Sun Spots. You have a large following of fans. — Carol, no town
DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Ladies of Mu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International are bringing back their annual Teddy Bear Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Lewiston High School gymnasium at 156 East Ave.
The Ladies of Mu are educators, active or retired, from the Lewiston-Auburn area.
Money generated by our fair goes to scholarships, one for a graduating senior from one of the high schools in the Twin Cities and surrounding communities, who plans to go into education. The other goes to a DKG member who is working on an advanced degree.
The Ladies of Mu are planning to sell baked goods, including cookies, cakes, pies, bread and an assortment of candies and pastries, and used books and DVDs; white elephant items; harvest items, such as jellies, jams, salsas and pickles; gently loved stuffed animals; crafts, including knitted scarves, hats and mittens, baby layettes and kitchen towels and dishcloths; and holiday crafts, including Christmas and Thanksgiving decorations.
The Ladies of Mu are also planning a raffle table expected to include handmade items, gift certificates for lobster or gas, a children’s craft basket and many other treasures.
We hope many people will come see us and support our efforts to raise scholarship money.
