DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m hoping you can help me find a home for some magazines that have accumulated over a couple of years. I have “Food Network, Golf and Men’s Health” magazines in excellent condition. It would be great to see them repurposed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I enjoy reading your column every day. — Brenda, Minot

ANSWER: Check in with your local library, schools, and senior centers/retirement facilities. You may also want to consider using the magazines yourself for collage projects. All you need are glue, scissors, and a base of some type. I have great fun making these projects and have created everything from bookmarks to shadow boxes. I have even decoupaged an entire table top and a wall using Mod Podge Sealer and images and words from magazines. It’s a very satisfying, inexpensive hobby.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Kudos to Tim, Richie, Jeremy and I’m sure a small army of volunteers who put together a very good drive through Barbecue Chicken dinner on Sunday, Oct. 10.

The Knights of Columbus and Holy Savior Church in Rumford teamed up for the event held on a beautiful fall afternoon. There are still good things happening in our community. — Steve, no town

ANSWER: I agree that events such as these go a long way to hold our community together. I’m grateful to all those who give their time and energy to these volunteer efforts.
