LEWISTON — In honor of the one-year mark of the tragic events in Lewiston, Prince of Peace Parish — under the direction of Rev. Daniel Greenleaf, pastor and rector of the Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul — plans to host A Day of Rest, Prayer, and Remembrance from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at Holy Family Church.
The 607 Sabattus St. church doors will be open offering a sacred space for community members to seek peace, reflect and pray.
In addition, Bishop James Ruggieri, the 13th Bishop of the Diocese of Portland, plans to join the community in a special holy hour at 6:56 p.m., during which the names of the victims will be read, and reflections offered by members of the parish.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
