To the Editor:

After reading the October 24 Advertiser-Democrat article outlining how the Oxford Hills school construction process has played out over the past year, several questions have come to mind.

By whom and when was the “major decision” made to include sixth grade in a future middle school?

What exactly was the architectural firm LaVallee Brensinger contracted to do?

Why is the school district apparently relying entirely on LaVallee Brensinger’s “experience” to judge the likelihood of the Maine Department of Education (DOE) providing funding for a new community elementary school?

Has the school district directly asked DOE that question?

How does the district know that a new community elementary school will have a 25 million dollar price tag and receive no financial assistance from DOE but does not announce the cost of a new consolidated elementary school and how much state financial assistance will be available?

Has the district solicited architectural design proposals for a new middle school or a new elementary school?
