DIXFIELD — The Dirigo football team advanced to the Class D South semifinals by defeating rival Mountain Valley 32-6 on Friday.

Hudson Lufkin connected with Trevor Crosby on a 20-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring. Tanner Bradeen added a 2-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, while Lufkin had a 47-yard TD run in the second quarter, and the third-seeded Cougars (7-1) led 20-0 at halftime.

Dirigo’s Dakota White (30 yards) and Nathaniel Wainwright (14 yards) ran for scores in the third quarter.

Colton Gallant scored sixth-seeded Mountain Valley’s (2-7) lone touchdown on an 85-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Dirigo’s defense forced two turnovers.

The Cougars, who have won seven straight games, will face No. 2 Winthrop/Monmouth/Hall-Dale/Kents Hill (7-1) in the semifinals next week in Winthrop.
