Mary Callahan, facing the camera, poses Monday evening for the Sketchy Friends drawing group at LA Arts on Lisbon Street in Lewiston. From left are Karen Brooks, Ellie Garcia and Noel Smith. Sketchy Friends is a free workshop where participants take turns modeling for 12-minute sessions for their fellow artists. Callahan said, “Modeling has made me more adaptable in how I draw the figure. When you try to sit still, your body starts to move in little ways. It’s made me more adaptable in how I draw, anticipating those little movements.” Sketchy Friends usually meets the first Monday of every month. Details of each session can be found on their Facebook page. Andree Kehn/Sun Journal
