It is with great joy that The Giving Tree of Rangeley will hold the 37th lighting, to signal the beginning of the Christmas Season, on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 4:30 p.m. at the entrance of Town Park.

The Giving Tree of Rangeley is an all-volunteer, all donation organization that has been helping the community for 37 years. There is still a great need for support, within our community this year, for warm clothing and books for the children, $25 or $50 IGA gift cards for seniors and $30 CITGO gas cards for people going out of town often for medical appointments and for the volunteers that drive seniors to appointments.

The Giving Tree of Rangeley will have trees with gift tags around town available for you to pick up and shop for a specific gift or gift card.  With one exception all locations with trees with gift tags will have a gift drop off collection box too.  The trees with the tags will be located at the IGA (tag pickup only), the Rangeley Public Library, Chamber of Commerce, Oquossoc Grocery, Skowhegan Savings Bank, Parkside & Main, and the Furbish Brew House & Eats restaurant.

Simply choose a tag, purchase the gift, and return the unwrapped gift with the tag by Dec. 1.  Check the hours of operation at each location.  If you cannot make the business hours at any of the above drop off collection locations, call Marie Sutherland at 617-921-1867.

If you would rather make a financial donation, please send it to the Giving Tree of Rangeley, P.O. Box 222, Rangeley, ME 04970-0222.   It will be used by our volunteer shoppers to purchase the specific needed items.   A final way you can help is to purchase an item, specifically made to help support the Giving Tree of Rangeley, from Rangeley Adventure Company on Pond Street, next to the Gazebo. These items include crocheted blankets, greeting cards, gift tags, bookmarks and the children’s book “There is an Angel in Rangeley”.

Save the date for the family to come to the Giving Tree Lighting on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 4:30 p.m. at the entrance of Town Park.  Join Santa, the Giving Tree Angel and Elf as they arrive on the Fire Engine escorted by the Oquossoc ATV Club.

We appreciate your support in assisting us in making children and adults smile at this most joyous time of the year.  We hope that you have a wonderful holiday season.
