AUBURN — A local man was charged this week with seven drug-related felonies, including dealing fentanyl and gun possession.

An Androscoggin County grand jury handed up an indictment Tuesday charging Omar M. Omar, 29, with four counts of aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs, a crime punishable by 30 years in prison.

He also was charged with two counts of possession of scheduled drugs, also felonies, each crime punishable by up to five years in prison.

An additional charge against Omar of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

He had been convicted in 2019 in Androscoggin County Superior Court of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, which barred him from having a gun.

According to the indictment, Omar was dealing fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine and oxycodone.

He was arrested in August on a warrant for a felony domestic violence charge.

Police then executed a search warrant at his Spring Street home where they seized 10 grams of crack; 34, 30 milligram oxycodone pills; 9 grams of fentanyl; 5 grams of cocaine; a loaded Sig Sauer 9 mm handgun; digital scales and $2,155 in suspected drug proceeds.

The street value of the drugs seized is about $3,500, police said.

Omar was transported to Androscoggin County Jail where he is being held without bail pending motions for bail revocation.
