AUBURN — A Massachusetts man accused of shooting a woman on a Lewiston street in August was charged this week with five felonies.

The woman was hospitalized and expected to survive.

SirWarrior Greene, 34, of Worcester, Massachusetts, but found in Lewiston as a transient, was indicted Tuesday by an Androscoggin County grand jury on a charge of elevated aggravated assault, a crime punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a charge of aggravated assault, a crime that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

He also was charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, also punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Greene had been convicted in Massachusetts in 2011 of armed robbery, which meant he was barred from having a gun.

Additional charges of domestic violence assault and domestic violence reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon are felonies, each punishable by up to five years in prison.

Greene was also charged with falsifying physical evidence, a misdemeanor, for allegedly altering, destroying, concealing or removing anything relevant to an investigation with the intention of hindering that investigation, according to the indictment.

Greene was arrested early in the morning of Aug. 16 after police said he shot a woman on Blake Street in Lewiston.

Police didn’t say what led to the shooting.

They found the 46-year-old victim suffering from a serious gunshot wound.

Officers first at the scene rendered aid before the woman was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Police said that during their investigation, they recovered a handgun that had previously been reported stolen.

As of Friday, Green was being held at the Androscoggin County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.
