Banduragirl (Anastasiya Voytyuk), a singer and virtuoso of the bandura, an instrument of Ukrainian origin, will perform Ukrainian folk music from 7:30-9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Olin Arts Center on the campus of Bates College in Lewiston. The performance is presented by the Olin Concert Series.
Leading the folk fusion band Troye Zillia, she skillfully blends Ukrainian folk songs with global influences. Her deep exploration of Ukrainian folklore provides a sense of strong roots and understanding of the role of the songs in everyday life, serving as milestones and mediators.
Voytyuk leads a charitable World Tour to raise funds for various organizations bringing aid and music to areas affected by the War in Ukraine.
