Livermore residents hold an impromptu Veterans Day service Monday at the Brettuns Memorial on state Route 4 at the intersection of Church Street, organized by Lea Young, left, and Dennis Lee, far right. “We were not comfortable not honoring our veterans,” Lee said. “It hurt. So we organized a ceremony.” Young served as a U.S. Air Force master sergeant from 1987 to 2010. She said she was in logistics and nicknamed “supply chick.” Next to her is John Luciano, who was a Specialist E4 in the U.S. Army in France from 1965 to 1967. Donna M. Perry/Sun Journal
