MINOT — At Tuesday’s Select Board meeting, three Minot residents were chosen to serve as the town’s representatives on the Regional School Unit 16 Cost-Sharing Committee.
Named to the committee were Select Board member Brittany Hemond, Colleen Quint, who serves as president and chief executive officer of the Alfond Scholarship Foundation and has moderated several RSU 16 district budget meetings, and RSU 16 Director Angela Swenson.
The nine-member committee will be made up of three residents each from Mechanic Falls, Minot and Poland to review the current formula for local funds raised by the school district above the state funding amount given to the district for Essential Programs and Services.
The facilitator for the committee, Suzan Beaudoin, was recently hired by the school district’s board of directors.
The committee will decide by majority vote whether to have the formula remain intact or changed.
If amended, the three towns will hold an election to vote yes or no to any modifications.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
