We received numerous responses from people on the right track with last week’s Mystery Photo of St. Lawrence & Atlantic Railroad’s new GP38-2 locomotive parked at its Lewiston Junction facility on Lewiston Junction Road in Auburn. In a drawing from all the correct entries, Shawn Doyle of Poland was picked as the winner of a $25 Hannaford Supermarket gift card. Doyle is the vice president of the Great Falls Model Railroad Club in Auburn and a veteran. One of the club members is a mechanic at the railroad yard where the locomotive was located before it was put into service this past Tuesday. The two men often discussed details of the train, including the colorful Genesee & Wyoming’s paint scheme that honors veterans.
