DEAR SUN SPOTS: Lisbon Area Christian Outreach Food Pantry in Lisbon Falls is asking for the public’s support for their annual Christmas Craft Fair.
The event will be held at the Lisbon Falls Baptist Church on Route 196 in Lisbon Falls on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Crafters who would like to rent a table at $22 each should please contact Debbie at 576-1109.
Santa will be there from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We also have a bake sale, and lunch will also be served.
We will have a huge raffle table and a silent auction table. We are also looking for knitted items, gift items, and small gifts as we will have a table where children can buy gifts for their parents.
If anyone would like to make a cash donation or write a check payable to LACO Food Pantry, they may do so either by calling me at 216-3460 or bring it to the fair. Also please call me if you need to have any items picked up.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you on Dec. 7 at our fair. God bless you. — Bert, Lisbon Falls
ANSWER: Bert and his team work very hard to keep LACO and this fundraiser going year after year. This is an all-volunteer organization providing services to about 40,000 people a year including food, clothing, heat assistance, CMP payments, drug prescriptions, wood for wood stoves, and many children activities.
They can only do this if they have the funds available and rely solely on donations. For nearly 41 years, they have been serving the communities of Lisbon, Lisbon Falls, Durham and Bowdoin. Hats off to you folks; you are truly special.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: There used to be an organization that cared for sick and homeless cats. I know the person who started it has died and volunteers took over.
Is that still around? I would like to donate some things to them so I need the name and contact information of the group. Their name was something like Tom’s Feral Cats but I’m not sure. — No name, Lewiston
ANSWER: You’re thinking of Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends, and yes, they are still in business and much in need of donations. You can email them at normblais39@yahoo.com . They also have a Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/tommysferalfelinefriends/, and you can reach them by mail at P.O. Box 274, Greene, ME 04236-0274.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Last week two friends and I were celebrating a birthday at the Chick-A-Dee. One of the gals turned 90 years young. After dinner, we each had a birthday cupcake and softly sang “Happy Birthday.”
The birthday gal then scratched lottery tickets. One ticket was a winner of some modest cash and she was thrilled.
When we asked the server for our check, she said it had already been taken care of and we were temporarily speechless! What a memorable birthday it turned out to be, thanks to a kind, generous couple!
All three of us benefited from the thoughtful birthday angels and we give our most heartfelt thanks to them. We also vowed to pay it forward soon. — Nancy, Lewiston
ANSWER: This sweet letter made my day. Thank you for sharing and please give my best wishes and a big hug to the birthday gal!
