DEAR SUN SPOTS: This holiday season, immerse yourself in the grandeur of the Foss Mansion at 19 Elm St. in Auburn, which will be beautifully decorated for the festive season. We will present “Christmas at the Foss Mansion — A Holiday Reception” on Saturday, Nov. 30 and Sunday, Dec. 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come stroll through the first-floor rooms that will be filled with holiday decorations, and learn about this historical treasure from our docents.
This fundraiser will help with restoration costs for the Foss Mansion. Tickets sold at the door are $8 per person. Join the guest list at [email protected] or www.womansliteraryunion.org. —Kathy, Auburn
ANSWER: The Foss Mansion is fabulous any time of year, but if you haven’t seen it in all its holiday glory, you are truly missing it. Attending a tour is well worth your time and certainly worth $8 — and then some.
I’ll be reminding you later in the week in case you forget to go to the website and reserve a spot for yourself and your guests. Make this a part of your holiday traditions.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Wreaths Across America convoy is coming to Lewiston High School on Sunday, Dec. 8. The convoy will arrive between 2:30 and 3 p.m.
A ceremony in the school gym will include presenting local veterans with wreaths and programs presented by the school chorus and band. The Lewiston High School ROTC honor guard will present the colors.
The public is invited to the ceremony to meet the escort and is encouraged to meet the convoy along its way with flags waving to welcome them to Lewiston.—Joyce, no town
ANSWER: This sounds absolutely wonderful. May we have beautiful weather for the event and a big crowd to cheer the convoy. We need days like this in our lives!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Please join us for the Maine-ly Harmony Chorus performance on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Highland Avenue United Methodist Church, 35 Highland Ave. in Gardiner for the “Songs of the Season.”
In addition to your favorite Christmas songs, there will be a silent auction, refreshments and a special appearance from jolly old St. Nick. We all need a little Christmas and look forward to sharing our musical holiday favorites with you. A donation of $15 is accepted at the door.—Lea, no town
ANSWER: We need “a lot of Christmas” if you ask me! Let’s take part in all of these activities that we can. Maybe we’ll even have some snow by then!
