Christmas parades, tree lightings and visits with Santa are taking shape throughout the state.
Farmington has planned Chester Greenwood Day festivities for Dec. 7, an Olde Fashioned Christmas is set for Dec. 6-8 in Livermore and Christmas in Poland is scheduled for Dec. 7 and 8 — to name a few.
Festivities are listed alphabetically by town.
Auburn
• A Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8. The parade will begin on Mill Street and proceed to Festival Plaza, where Santa will light the Christmas tree. Local artisans and makers will sell their goods from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Anniversary Park (New Auburn) at 8 Second St.; auburnmaine.gov.
Harrison
• 4th Annual Harrison Maine Light Contest will take place from 5 p.m. Dec. 4 through 9 p.m. Dec. 11.
Lewiston
• Holiday Festival is set for 3-7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at The Colisée, 190 Birch St. Ice skating (rentals available) at 3 p.m., a Christmas movie at 5 p.m., pictures with Santa and more; free.
Otisfield
• The 2nd annual Live Nativity will be presented at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Field of Faith on Lodge Hill, 437 Bean Road. Costumed characters will present the story of Jesus’ birth on the large outdoor patio behind the barn. There will be outdoor lighting and large speakers so everyone can hear the narrator. Parking space has increased this year and the lot will be open at 4:30. The event is free of charge. For information go to fieldoffaithvenue.com.
Poland
• Christmas in Poland Family Fun Day is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Town Hall, 1231 Maine St. Featured events include Santa’s workshop, cookies and ornament decorating, pictures with Santa, festival of trees and more.
Rangeley
• Mountain Holly Days is set for Dec. 6-8. Holiday activities are planned for downtown; business.rangeleymaine.com.
