PHILLIPS — Police arrested a local man and said they retrieved more than five dozen items believed to have been stolen during a string of recent break-ins.

Detectives and deputies from the Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant Wednesday morning at a home on Pleasant Street in Phillips as well as two other locations starting Wednesday morning.  

As a result of the warrant, an array of items retrieved were identified as stolen from a series of camp breaks, storage facility breaks and a residential burglary within the last four months.  

Arrested was Stephen Kennedy, 34, of Pleasant Street, Phillips. Police said 62 items were recovered from the three locations to include different types of Milwaukee tools, camping gear, a large safe, two dirt bikes, chainsaws, a large ladder, boat motor, coolers, a solar panel, as well as miscellaneous equipment, fly fishing rods, and a canoe paddle.   

It is estimated that the items recovered are valued more than $20,000, police said  Kennedy was arrested and charged with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and unlawful possession of fentanyl.   

Police said other suspects have been identified and the case is still ongoing. Kennedy was transported to Franklin County Jail where he remained later Wednesday. 

Police said the search warrant was conducted after a month-long investigation.
