AREA — If you work in forestry or the forest products industry, you are probably familiar with skidder bridges and the vital role they play in sustainability. These bridges come in several pieces and can be moved to sites to allow equipment and vehicles to safely cross streams. They are an essential tool that reduces the impact of logging operations by protecting waterways and minimizing soil erosion during timber harvesting and other projects. Soil erosion can lead to many issues downstream, including the death of fish and other aquatic species and algae blooms.

The Oxford County Soil & Water Conservation District has offered a popular skidder bridge rental program for the past 8 years. We are pleased to continue offering this service to the community and wanted to send out notice that effective January 1, 2025, the monthly rental rate for skidder bridges will increase from $75 per month to $100 per month. This is the first time we have ever raised our rates, and the update ensures we can continue maintaining and providing this vital service to our community. Those who wish to rent a skidder bridge before the price change are encouraged to contact the district as soon as possible to see if they are available.
