DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Heywood Club in Norway will again have its Lights of Love Christmas Tree at the four corners on Crockett Ridge.
This year, the tree is to be named “Dominic,” for a young man whose life ended way too soon. A portion of the profits will be given in his honor to the forestry department at Oxford Hills Technical School in South Paris.
The remainder of the proceeds are to go to the maintenance fund to help replace a sill on the backside of the 117-year-old building.
You can help us achieve this by purchasing a bulb for the tree in honor of or in memory of someone you love. The bulbs are $5 each, and the tree will light up the four corners by the club from Dec. 1 through New Year’s Eve.
We appreciate all of the support over the past few years. Please send donations by check to the Ladies Heywood Club. Please address donations to Barbara Townsend, 475 Crockett Ridge Road, Norway, ME 04268. If questions, please call 207-890-2103.
We also look forward to seeing many people on the second Saturday in June 2025 for our 7 Mile Yard Sale. – Barbara, Norway
ANSWER: The lights honoring loved ones create an impressive, meaningful sight during the holidays. I encourage all to participate. And remember to mark your 2025 calendars with the yard sale date. You do not want to miss it.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: A few weeks ago, you printed the telephone number of a man who uses a snowblower, instead of a plow, to remove snow from driveways and walkways. I seem to have lost his number. If the man is in the Lewiston-Auburn area, please send me his contact number. Many thanks. I have read you every day for years. — Ralph
ANSWER: The contractor about whom you are asking is Donald, who can be reached at 207-240-5324. He has been recommended by another Sun Spotter, and I am not sure the area he covers.
