Ralph Stanley Moulton

NORWAY – Ralph Stanley Moulton, 97, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, at his home in Norway, Maine surrounded with love from his family. When Ralph felt the good Lord was calling him home soon, he was blessed to be able to share his love with everyone he held dear.

Ralph was born August 8, 1927, in Scarborough, Maine to Robley and Frances Moulton. He was the third of four siblings. Ralph grew up with a love of the outdoors and farming.

Ralph joined the Navy and served his country in 1944. After being discharged from the Navy, he joined his brother Robley Moulton in Pennsylvania and worked at his brother’s gas station. He then relocated to Norway where he went to work for LM Longley and Son’s until he purchased Andrew’s Fuel Company, which he owned and operated until retirement in 1986. Ralph was a long-time member of the Stone Smart Post #82 where he served as commander, treasurer, and was instrumental in creating the veterans memorial park across from the legion hall, along with many other legion projects. Ralph was also a lifetime member of the Norway-Paris Fish and Game.

On April 16, 1983, Ralph married his best friend and soulmate, Rose Gammon. Rose and Ralph spent 44 wonderful years of marriage together. Rose treasured Ralph just as much as he did her. They had many wonderful fishing trips up to Jackman, camping trips, and other adventures. They spent many weekends on the dance floor to their song “Could I have this dance” by Anne Murray. Rose was a dedicated caregiver to Ralph in his final years. Ralph and Rose shared a beautiful love story that will transcend time.

In 1996 Ralph built a hunting camp on his property in Hartford, Maine. For many years he found so much enjoyment spending time with his hunting buddies where he shared many wonderful memories. He was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed many fishing and camping trips with his friends and family. He created beautiful rock wall gardens for Rose. Also, he loved spending time in his garden and was known for growing the best cucumbers. He was an accomplished woodworker who spent many hours in his shop producing bowls and furniture.

Ralph is survived by his wife Rose Moulton of Norway; his beloved children Laura and husband Bill Reiman of Norway,and their two children, John Moulton and wife Sarah of Harpswell, Maine and John’s two children, Julie Moulton of Harpswell, ; his faithful stepchildren Sharon Thurston of Norway and Carlton Conant of Sabattuse; his devoted granddaughter Krystal Eicher and her husband Aaron and their cherished six children Sebastian, Emily, Noah, Wyatt, Dawson and Owen of Norway, who he loved dearly; and four other great-grandchildren; nephew Dennis McNeil of Hartford, nephew Jeff McNeil of Buckfield, numerous other nieces and nephews; his longtime and ever faithful friend Stephen Cairns of Norway, who he loved like a son.

Ralph was predeceased by his parents Robley and Frances Moulton; his brother Arnold Moulton, his brother Robley Moulton, his sister Barbra Bryant; his hunting dog Sammy, the English setter, who he treasured.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 1 p.m at Chandler Funeral Homes, 45 Main St., South Paris. Family and friends may attend visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Norway.
