AUBURN — Stephen Almquist of Sidney is the city’s new deputy fire chief, and Eric Cousens is its new executive director of public services.
Almquist, who has been the city’s emergency medical services coordinator, has worked for the Fire Department for five years.
He worked at the Augusta Fire Department as a firefighter/paramedic, as well as Northeast Mobile Health as director of education and quality management.
Almquist has acquired 17 years of experience working for fire departments and EMS services and has spent several years teaching licensure courses and EMS education throughout the state.
Cousens, who has more than 20 years of experience in municipal government, has been serving as Auburn’s director of planning, permitting and code. He first joined the city in 2006 and has served in multiple roles within the Planning Department, including city planner and deputy director.
Cousens replaces Denis D’Auteuil, who was appointed as Auburn’s assistant city manager in July.
