LEWISTON — The operator of a vehicle that endured a rollover crash on Old Greene Road near No Name Pond Road fled into the woods Saturday afternoon shortly before first responders arrived, according to police.
Eric Ouellette, 44, was operating his 2007 GMC Yukon around 12:30 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Old Greene and No Name Pond roads when the vehicle left the roadway and rolled over.
Ouellette was able to free himself and his dog from the wrecked vehicle and fled into the woods to avoid arrest, police said.
Lewiston police Lt. Derrick St. Laurent said Ouellette was involved in an incident earlier in the morning and was wanted on charges of domestic violence terrorizing, domestic violence reckless conduct and violating a condition of release.
Ouellette also faces charges of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident and operating after habitual offender revocation with one prior, St. Laurent said.
Ouellette was transported to Androscoggin County Jail. Bail information was not immediately available.
St. Laurent said the dog was brought safely to an animal shelter.
