Jace Bessey surpassed 1,000 career points during the second quarter of Spruce Mountain’s 80-40 boys basketball victory over Hall-Dale on Monday in Jay.
Bessey, a senior, entered the season needing 40 points to reach 1,000. He put up 28 points in the season-opening win over Boothbay on Friday, then scored 20 against Hall-Dale.
Cai Dougher added 19 points for the Phoenix (2-0). Hunter Buote finished with 11 and Dylan Jewett had 10.
Matt Waller led the Bulldogs (1-1) with eight points, while Karter Eldridge, Keegan Cary and Greyson Cary each scored seven.
MARANACOOK 59, OAK HILL 55: Elijah Freeman scored 25 points to lead the Black Bears (2-0) over the Raiders (1-1) in Readfield.
Jack Fontaine scored 10 points, while Ethan Chilton and Caldre Glowa each added nine points for Maranacook.
Braden New led Oak Hill with 17 points, while Braden Dubuc had 14 points and Eli Desmond 13.
MOUNTAIN VALLEY 62, LISBON 39: Ben Desalle’s 23 points paced the Falcons (1-1) to a victory over the Greyhounds (0-2) in Rumford.
Dylan Theriault added 12 points for Mountain Valley, while Tanner Henry had eight and Blake Small seven.
