AUBURN – WinterKids plans to host its annual Welcome to Winter event from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at Lost Valley at 200 Lost Valley Road.

This free, family friendly event is open to all and offers an opportunity for children and families to try new winter activities, connect with their community, and enjoy the health benefits of outdoor fun.

WinterKids Welcome to Winter 2024 features:

• Snowshoeing, Nordic and downhill skiing, snowboarding, and snow sculpting.

• Free equipment for kids to try out winter sports for the first time.

• Warm treats like hot chocolate and s’mores.

• Fun “out-DOOR” prizes for attendees.

“Winter can be a tough season for families, especially if you’re new to Maine or unfamiliar with snow activities,” said Tom Long, Program & Environmental Sustainability Manager at WinterKids, according to a news release from WinterKids. “Welcome to Winter is designed to make winter fun, accessible, and welcoming for everyone — whether it’s your first time on snow or your hundredth.”
