GIRLS BASKETBALL
EDWARD LITTLE 53, SANFORD 49: Layla Facchiano and Hope Fontaine each scored 13 points for the Red Eddies (1-1) in an overtime win over the Spartans in Auburn.
Elizabeth Galway chipped in 12 points and Rachel Penny had 10 for Edward Little.
Paige Sevigny scored 15 points for Sanford. Ava Hudson finished with 14 and Mollie Puffer added 12.
MT. ARARAT 52, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 37: Kayleigh Wagg finished with 14 points, while Jaelyn Jensen and Cali Pomerleau added 10 apiece to lead the Eagles (2-0) over the Patriots (1-1) in Gray.
Abbey Steele led Gray-New Gloucester with 16 points, including four 3-pointers. Izzy Morelli scored 10.
OXFORD HILLS 47, BANGOR 43: Seniors Gabbie Tibbetts and Ella Pelletier led the Vikings to a big early-season victory over the Rams in Paris.
Tibbetts scored a game-high 19 points, including four 3-pointers and 5-of-6 shooting at the free-throw line, while Pelletier put up 18 points. Maddy Herrick added seven points for Oxford Hills (2-0).
Gabby Roy led Bangor (1-1) with 10 points. Ayzlynn Gifford added eight and Avery Clark had seven.
PINE TREE ACADEMY 40, TELSTAR 23: Chantal Mbonimpa paced the Breakers (2-0) with 18 points in a win over the Rebels (1-2) at Bethel.
Marra Soram added 11 points for Pine Tree.
Taejyah Lego paced Telstar with 10 points.
SOUTH PORTLAND 63, LEWISTON 29: Destiny Peter and Emma Travis scored 18 points apiece for the Red Riots (2-0) in a win over the Blue Devils (0-2) in Lewiston.
Peter scored 14 of her points in the first half, while Travis scored 14 in the second half. Mya Lawrence contributed 12 points for South Portland.
Ella Beaudoin led Lewiston with 14 points, and freshman Bailey Toderico added 10.
BOYS BASKETBALL
MT. BLUE 80, CAMDEN HILLS 67: The Cougars (2-0) rode a 20-9 first quarter to a victory over the Windjammers (0-2) in Farmington.
Tyler Abell hit three 3-pointers and went 8 of 10 at the free-throw line to score a team-high 21 points for Mt. Blue. Carter Norton contributed 18 points, Nolan Leso scored 13 and Evan Drake (6 of 6 free throws) had 10 points.
Camden Hills’ Nolan Ames led all scorers with 38 points, which included four 3s and 16-of-16 free-throw shooting. Thomas Leadbetter added 13 points for Camden Hills.
OXFORD HILLS 70, BANGOR 42: Brady Delamater’s 26 points paced the Vikings (1-1) to a road win over the Rams (1-1) in Bangor.
Five of Delamater’s 10 field goals were 3-pointers. Cameron Pullkkinen contributed 11 points for Oxford Hills, while Carter Holbrook and Brayden Murch scored eight apiece.
Harry Fitzpatrick and Nate Grunkemeyer led Bangor with 11 points each.
SANFORD 75, EDWARD LITTLE 66: Brady Adams scored 17 points to help the Spartans (2-0) beat the Red Eddies (1-1) in Sanford.
Ryan Alexander made four of Sanford’s 13 3-pointers and finished with 15 points.
Diing Maiwen (18 points), Akol Maiwen (15) and Cedric Makelele (12) scored in double figures for Edward Little.
SOUTH PORTLAND 62, LEWISTON 46: Carmine Soucy sank three 3-pointers in the first quarter as the Red Riots (1-1) opened a 24-12 lead and cruised from there to beat the Blue Devils (0-2) in South Portland.
Soucy and Manny Hidalgo each finished with 15 points, and Tom Malogi added 13 for the Red Riots.
Abdirahman Dakane scored 13 points and Joao Samba had 10 for Lewiston.
TELSTAR 69, PINE TREE ACADEMY 41: Brody Morgan’s 17 points led the rebellion in the Rebels win over the Breakers in Bethel.
Connor Deprey, who hit two 3-pointers, and Cooper Morgan each added 14 points for Telstar (2-0).
Rio Soram, Rhett Tyson and Colby Solberg scored six points apiece for Pine Tree Academy.
