Regarding Donald Trump’s bragging about raising tariffs on goods coming into this country: if other countries have to pay high tariffs, then they will raise their prices for American consumers.
Regarding “government waste” and the need for cuts in in our Social Security: people’s taxes don’t pay for social security. Retirees are paid through all of our contributions; it’s self- sustaining.
Regarding kicking out immigrants, grocery prices will go up. Native-born Americans will not do the backbreaking work picking vegetables and doing other hard farm work that immigrants do for low pay.
Sure, when Trump was previously president he cut taxes, but not for us — only for rich people and big corporations.
Trump has selected accused alcoholics, drug users, sex offenders, and just plain strange people like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to be in charge of important government departments. His own family has rejected Kennedy because of his dangerous ideas, such as stopping vaccinations.
Trump’s friend, Vivek Ramaswamy, wants to cut health care for veterans. Stephen Miller is in favor of separating immigrant children from their parents. And I can’t even imagine the harm the non-U.S. citizen Elon Musk (who seems to have replaced JD Vance in Trump’s favor) will do.
Why is Trump deliberately choosing the some of the worst people to run this country? Is this some form of revenge?
If it is, it’s a poor, sad way to govern.
