LISBON — Lisbon Community Federal Credit Union has announced that the inaugural George Roy Community Grant has been awarded to Hanna Stevens, school counselor, of Lisbon Community School.
She plans to use the $5,000 grant to create a student garden aimed at enhancing outdoor education and fostering a deeper connection to nature. This innovative project will provide students with hands-on learning opportunities, teaching them valuable lessons in patience, teamwork, and the rewards of hard work.
The garden project will allow students to participate in the planting, nurturing and harvesting process, giving them the opportunity to observe firsthand how plants grow and develop. The hands-on experience will also help students learn about the importance of sustainability, responsibility and community service.
