RANGELEY — WRGY 90.5 FM, the community radio station serving the Rangeley Lakes region, is thrilled to announce the addition of four unique, locally hosted programs to its diverse programming lineup.

New Program Highlights:

The Straub Power Hour

hosted by Tim Straub on Tuesday at 3 p.m. and replayed Sunday at 6 p.m.

The Straub Power Hour brings a little bit of this, a little bit of that, and a whole lot of something else. Tim’s one-hour program is like a one-hour lesson plan. Music, movie clips, poetry, stories, special guests, and comedy are all delivered with Tim’s palatable charm.

Mark’s Eclectic Hour

hosted by Mark Lathrop on Friday at 11 a.m.

Mark’s Eclectic Hour is whatever Mark feels like playing that week. He doesn’t believe in genres, so anything goes. Some shows are themed, but most encompass everything from R&B, doo-wop, country, rockabilly, folk, and psychedelic rock.

Record Highs

hosted by Randy Buckley on Wednesday at 1 p.m.

The idea behind the “Record Highs” hour is to showcase underappreciated music. Randy has collected records over three decades and relishes sharing these fruits with the people of Rangeley (and beyond). Often he’ll pair a lesser-known artist back-to-back with a more popular artist in the same genre. He hopes that the listener will enjoy the show and perhaps discover something new each time they listen.

Pine Tree Prog

hosted by Russ Murley on Friday at 4 p.m.

Join Russ Murley on Friday afternoons at 4 p.m. for “Pine Tree Prog”. Russ will take you on a journey around the world with music from different countries and a sampling of the multiple sub-genres of progressive rock. From classics from bands you know like Pink Floyd and Rush to obscure bands from different corners of the globe, Russ knows prog rock and loves to share his knowledge of the talented artists that produce this engaging flavor of rock music!

WRGY 90.5 FM encourages community members to get involved by presenting their own shows, particularly in the areas of local news and public affairs programming.

“We wouldn’t be community radio without the community, which is why I am so happy to have these show hosts joining us each week. Each host brings their own musical perspective and every week I am in awe of their passion for music and love for radio,” said WRGY’s Station Manager, Iris Ramirez. “I also want to take a moment to encourage others to start their own show. No idea is too big or too small. Thank you for your continued support and thank you to our show hosts for bringing new energy each week.”

The station values listener feedback and is eager to hear any programming ideas that can enhance its offerings. By collaborating with the community, WRGY aims to create a vibrant platform for diverse perspectives and engaging content. To learn more, contact Station Manager Iris Ramirez at Iris@wrgy.org.
