JAY — Balloons and children danced through the dark with glow sticks at Jay-Niles Memorial Library during the New Year’s Glow Party on Thursday, Jan. 2.
The room was completely dark save for the neon glow of glowsticks, string lights, and a projection showing colorful images. There was also a makeshift glowing ball to mimic the New York City Ball Drop. Music blasted as many children ran and danced around the room. Candy was available as well.
Children’s Librarian Lindsey Hopkins said that she didn’t expect so many participants, as the event took place right after the first day back to school after holiday break.
Angela Samperi said that she decided to attend because they didn’t do very much for New Year’s at home and it seemed like a fun activity. “I knew this would be a good place for a good time,” Samperi said.
