LEWISTON – Roy S. L’Italien Sr., of 38 Union St., Lewiston, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, at D’Youville Pavilion with his loving family by his side. A special thank you to D’Yoville for the excellent care they provided to our Dad.
Roy was born in Manhattan, N.Y. and raised in the Bronx.
He was predeceased by his parents Johnny and Rose L’Italien; sister, RoseMae O’Conner, and his grandson, Jorden.
Roy was a military man. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1961 where he served as a 3rd Class Petty Officer and Military Police Officer until 1966. He went on to enlist in the Army Reserve as a sergeant with the 619th Transportation Unit as well as the 76th Transportation Unit. Roy then joined the 133rd Engineer Battalion where he later retired from the National Guard as a sergeant in 1998. He also worked for the United States Post Office and retired in 1998.
Roy was an avid outdoorsman who loved his family, his pets and working on cars. He also loved his collection of eagles and American flags.
Roy is survived by his wife, Pauline, the love of his life for 61 years; his four adult children, Roy S. L’Italien, Jr., Charlene Powers, Pauline Chouinard and Carolyn L’Italien; and his brother, Edward L’Italien of New York; as well as his grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
