I am very concerned about some of Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees. They are dangerous, breathtakingly unqualified, and put loyalty to Trump over everything else, including the Constitution and the rule of law.

In particular, Kade Patel could weaponize the Department of Justice to go after Trump’s perceived enemies, Tulsi Gabbard (Trump’s pick for director of national intelligence) is a threat to national security, and Pete Hegseth is absolutely unqualified to lead the Department of Defense.

All of these nominations are a threat to our democracy.

These outrageous nominations are Trump’s “canary in the coal mine.” He is testing to see whether our senators will uphold their oaths to the Constitution and push back against him. If not, he will be unstoppable in this next term.

The whole world is watching to see if Congress is going to reclaim its power as an equal branch of the government, or whether our senators will meekly go along with whatever Trump, just as they did in his first term. Our democracy is depending on them to do the right thing, and we will be watching our country’s Republican senators very closely.
