Mt. Ararat ran its win streak to six games while halting Edward Little’s streak at six in a 61-51 victory in a girls basketball contest Monday.
Julianna Allen led the the Eagles (11-2) with 19 points, while Cali Pomerleau hit four 3-pointers and scored 16 points and Kennedy Lampert had 12 points.
Edward Little’s Layla Facchiano put up a game-high 23 points, including 12 at the free-throw line. Rachel Penny made three 3s and finished with 12 points for the Red Eddies (9-4).
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 59, LEAVITT 34: Maddie Grimaldi paced the Phoenix to a victory over the Hornets in Jay.
Grimaldi finished with 19 points. Avery Bessey made two 3-pointers and tallied 11 points for Spruce Mountain (13-1). Natasha McDonald (eight points), Alaina Kachnovich (seven) and Merik Bessey (six) also sank two 3-pointers apiece.
Caitlyn McCoy of Leavitt (8-5) hit three treys and scored a game-high 20 points.
BOYS BASKETBALL
TRAIP ACADEMY 53, WINTHROP 42: Jack Downs knocked down five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Rangers over the Ramblers in Winthrop.
Chris Belano and Colin O’Laughlin each added nine points for Traip, which improved to 5-10.
Cole Bard led Winthrop (8-7) with 10 points, while Jake Galusha scored eight and Braden Branagan had seven.
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 73, LEAVITT 48: Cai Dougher poured in a game-high 21 points to lead the attack as the Phoenix (12-2) rose above the Hornets (6-7) in Jay.
Jace Bessey and Owen Kelvey added 13 apiece for Spruce Mountain, and Austin Armandi made three 3-pointers for nine points.
Colin Schlobohm was Leavitt’s top scorer with 15 points. Cooper Morin and Keegan Reny (three 3s) each had nine points.
ST. DOMINIC 67, BOOTHBAY 48: Four players scored in double figures for the Saints as they rolled past the Seahawks in Auburn.
Jack Brocke drained three 3-pointers and scored a game-high 19 points for St. Dom’s (12-1). Jonathan Tangilamesu (13 points), Donel Tangilamesu (10 points, 10 rebounds, seven steals) and Isaac Yombe (10 points) also scored in double figures. Taylor Varney had only two points, but he tallied 11 rebounds and 10 assists.
Tyson French had 17 points for Boothbay (3-10), including three 3s, and Peyton Barter scored 10.
EDWARD LITTLE 68, MT. ARARAT 51: The Red Eddies’ (8-6) defense clamped down over the final three quarters to claim a road win over the Eagles (3-10) in Topsham.
Spurred by three 3-pointers from Andrew Clemons and two by Joseph Kessler, Mt. Ararat scored 24 points in the first quarter and led 24-17. Edward Little limited the Eagles to 26 points combined in the second, third and fourth quarters.
Akol Maiwen led the Red Eddies with 18 points, while Diing Maiwen scored 17 and Cedric Makelele had 12.
Clemons, who finished with four 3s in the game, scored 18, and Caleb Murphy added 10 for Mt. Ararat.
GIRLS HOCKEY
EDWARD LITTLE/LEAVITT/POLAND/MONMOUTH/OXFORD HILLS 4, FALMOUTH/SCARBOROUGH 1: Leksi Langevin scored twice in Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland/Monmouth/Oxford Hill’s (8-4-2) win over Falmouth/Scarborough (5-9) at Falmouth Family Ice Center.
Avery Cologna notched a goal and two assists for the Red Hornets, and Adeline Langan also scored.
Hope Melevsky scored Falmouth/Scarborough’s goal.
Red Hornets goalie Paige Fecteau made 15 saves, and Tessa Woodbury stopped 34 shots.
BOYS HOCKEY
FALMOUTH 4, ST. DOMINIC 3: Cale Hanson recorded a hat trick in the Navigators’ (8-2) win over the Saints (6-5) at Falmouth Family Ice Center.
Anthony Graceffa had a goal and two assists in the win.
Jaxson Booker, Ben Dumais and Curtis Wheeler scored for St. Dom’s.
Brandon White (Falmouth) and Nolan Cavers (St. Dom’s) each stopped 20 shots.
KENTS HILL 5, EDWARD LITTLE 2: Alex Godbois scored four times in the Huskies (5-4) win over the Red Eddies (3-8) in Readfield.
Nathan Roy also scored for Kents Hill.
Breccan Albert recorded a goal and an assist for Edward Little, and Andrew Clements also scored.
Milan Angyalfi stopped 25 shots for Kents Hill and Caden Westhoven stopped 31 shots Edward Little.
LEAVITT/GNG/POLAND/OAK HILL 1, MT. ARARAT/LISBON/MORSE/HYDE 0: Isaac Ormberg scored in the first period and the Kings (5-5) beat the Eagles (5-5) at Sidney J. Watson Arena in Brunswick.
Koen Fairbanks had the assist.
Taylor Brann made 18 saves for to earn the shutout. Kai Stockford had 21 saves for the Mt. Ararat co-op.
Zac Camp and Makili Matty each had a goal and an assist to lift Marshwood/Traip/Sanford/Noble (6-3) to awin over Fryeburg/Lake Region/Oxford Hills (2-8) at Bridgton Ice Arena.
MARSHWOOD/TRAIP/SANFORD/NOBLE 4, FRYEBURG/LAKE REGION/OXFORD HILLS 1: Drew Vessels and Sean Sullivan also scored for the Marshwood co-op. Emmett Hammond had two assists.
Conner Richard scored for the Ice Cats.
Connor Lentz had 14 saves for the Marshwood co-op and Charlie Herrick also stopped 14 shots for the Ice Cats.
