DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Jan. 21, the SHAREcenter opened at our new location to members only at the Market Place Mall at 675 Main St. in Lewiston, next door to Fueled by Nutrition. We still do not have our big sign up on the building so look for the sign above our shop that still says JFM.
Our store hours will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2 to 5 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. We will be open for additional hours in February to make up for our shut-down during the big move.
Please be aware that this is a soft opening so some of our sections are still being set up. We do have our office/classroom supply and arts and craft space completely set up. The S.T.E.A.M. and partially set-up children’s book rooms are accessible now.
All furniture, oversized art paper, teacher resources and reference materials will not be available until February. The Green for ME Shop will also not be open until then.
We are happy to announce that we are once again accepting donations during our regular business hours or by appointment. We need office supplies, arts and craft supplies, items to up-cycle and repurpose for projects and lessons, quality children’s books, teachers’ resources, non-fiction reference materials, and new and used personal care items.
We are no longer in the business of hosting yard sales as our new facility does not have space for this. That being said, we will be more selective about the types of items we accept. We do not accept furniture donations at this time but will soon.
Thank you to all our volunteers who have been working tirelessly to get our new facility set up, to all our members for their support and patience as we get reestablished at our new place, and to our community for their ongoing support and for the much needed donations. If you have any questions, please contact Jonathan Carsley, chairman of the board, at jcarsley@sharecenterme.org. — Deb, no town

DEAR SUN SPOTS: This past Monday, over 50 homeless people came to (the Trinity Jubilee Center) Day Shelter for hot coffee, breakfast and lunch, socks and boots, and to meet with a mental health case worker. It is bitterly cold this week. Can you help keep the Day Shelter open and warm? Your donations to our Heating Fund keep the radiators hot on these frigid days! If you wish to donate, go to https://trinityjubileecenter.org/heating-fund/ . Thank you! — No name, no town
ANSWER: Always willing to get the word out about area shelters that are working to keep people warm and out of the cold. Send your requests to Sun Spots!
