Mystery Photo for Feb. 2, 2025. Russ Dillingham/Sun Journal
We only had a few correct answers for last week’s Mystery Photo of a concrete elephant at the entrance of Superior Concrete on Minot Avenue in Auburn. In a random drawing from all the entries, Larissa Ryerson of Poland was picked as the winner of a $25 Hannaford Supermarket gift card. When we reached out to let her know she won, Larissa told us she was visiting her parents, who live not far from Superior Concrete, when her son Brady came across the Mystery Photo in the newspaper. He thought he remembered seeing the elephant and recognized Petro’s Ace Hardware and Backwoods Snowboards and Skateboards in the background. They drove past it on their way home and confirmed the location.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
