Nathan Breton, 28, has been charged with reckless conduct and elevated aggravated assault in the shooting during an argument outside The Cage at 97 Ash St.

Mahad Mohamed, 29, of Lewiston was struck in the leg by a round fired outside the club. When police arrived, they found him at the side of Ash Street, bleeding from the wound.

He was taken to Central Maine Medical Center where he was treated for what was described as a non-life-threatening injury.

The shooting occurred around midnight Sunday, police said. When officers first arrived in the area it was not immediately clear who shot Mohamed.

Investigators said their evidence led them to Breton, who was arrested after coming to the police station for questioning.

The gun used in the shooting was found at Breton’s home, police said.

It was not immediately clear what Mohamed and Breton were arguing about. Police said the dispute began inside The Cage but the two men walked out the door together and soon after, Mohamed was shot.

Breton was being held at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn on Tuesday night on $1,000 cash bail.
