AUBURN — An Androscoggin County Superior Court grand jury indicted a Livermore Falls man Monday for his role in a Dec. 17 shootout in Lewiston.
Mickiel James, 36, faces charges of aggravated reckless conduct and reckless conduct with a firearm. He was arrested and charged Dec. 24 after an investigation of the Dec. 17 shootout in downtown Lewiston.
Police heard shots and received calls reporting them around 3 p.m. in the area of Walnut and Pierce streets.
When police responded to the scene, witnesses said all parties fled following the exchange of gunfire.
James was struck during the exchange and was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with critical injuries.
Police identified James and other suspects the next day after reviewing surveillance photos of the group of people allegedly involved in the shootout.
According to court records, James is from Massachusetts but previously lived in Lewiston and in parts of Oxford County.
He is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn on $7,500 cash bail.
