Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties should prepare for several rounds of winter weather over the next few days, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

High temperatures today will be seasonably cold, reaching the upper 20s in most areas.
Snow squalls are possible Tuesday afternoon and evening, particularly in the mountains and foothills. These squalls could create brief periods of very low visibility and quickly coat roads with snow, making for hazardous driving conditions.
A more organized storm system is expected to arrive Wednesday night into Thursday, bringing widespread snow to the region. According to the NWS snowfall forecast, the Rumford area could see 3-5 inches of accumulation, while the Fryeburg region is likely to receive similar amounts. Areas around Farmington and Oxford County’s western mountains could pick up 4-8 inches of snow.

Forecasters note this storm will impact the Thursday morning commute. While interior sections should see all snow, there’s a possibility of mixed precipitation including sleet during the day Thursday.
Looking ahead to the weekend, the weather service says another winter storm could bring a mix of precipitation to the region Saturday night into Sunday, though exact details are still uncertain.
