FARMINGTON —The High Peaks Alliance is thrilled to announce it has been awarded an $8,000 grant from the Quimby Family Foundation to support its general operations. This grant will help further the Alliance’s mission of keeping the High Peaks Region wild and accessible through conservation, access, and collaboration.
Selected from a highly competitive pool of over 100 applicants, the Alliance was chosen for its alignment with the Quimby Family Foundation’s vision of supporting human wholeness, especially for Maine’s historically least-funded communities and populations.
“We are honored and grateful to receive this support from the Quimby Family Foundation,” said Amanda Laliberte, Director of Engagement at High Peaks Alliance. “This grant will allow us to expand our efforts in conserving access to natural spaces and creating deeper connections between our community members and the High Peaks landscape.”
This grant will allow us to grow in several ways:
-
Creating Regional Conservation Corps to maintain and improve regional trails
-
Continuing the Scenic 7 Hiking Challenge, encouraging exploration of our region
-
Developing new outreach focused on land stewardship and promoting lesser-known gems.
-
Strengthening our partnerships with local organizations to improve outdoor infrastructure
“At the Alliance, we believe that everyone deserves access to nature,” Laliberte added. “With the Quimby Family Foundation’s support, we can continue breaking down barriers to access and promoting outdoor activities that contribute to the well-being of our community members.”
The High Peaks Alliance extends its gratitude to the Quimby Family Foundation for their generous support and shared commitment to fostering human wholeness through connection with nature.
