LEWISTON — One woman was treated for smoke inhalation on Friday after fleeing a burning home on Taylor Hill Road.
The fire at the two-story home at 38 Taylor Hill Road was reported shortly after 2 p.m. Crews from the Lewiston Fire Department’s Engine 5 were the first to arrive and battled flames in a second floor bedroom.
The fire was declared knocked down within 20 minutes of the fire crews’ arrival. The cause of the blaze was being investigated later Friday with the assistance of the Office of State Fire Marshal.
Lewiston Fire Chief Mark Caron said the fire was contained to that one bedroom, “however, smoke and water damage migrated to other rooms in the building.”
The woman who suffered smoke inhalation did not require hospital treatment, Caron said. Additionally, all pets inside the home survived unharmed.
Taylor Hill Road is a dead end off outer Main Street, a short distance from Merrill Road. The road was closed briefly while firefighters battled the flames.
