CANTON — A Turner man was killed and four others were injured in a head-on collision Tuesday morning on Route 108, according to an Oxford County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Aaron Hastings, 43, was northbound in his Toyota Tacoma and Jyrrmal Yates, 19, of Rumford was driving a 2004 Subaru Legacy south when their vehicles collided around 8:28 a.m., the release said.
Hastings died at the scene.
Hastings’ passengers, all children, were injured. One had a broken wrist, another back and neck pain, and the third had minor injuries. They were transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston by ambulance.
Yates suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
“The specific cause of this crash has not been determined,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “Investigators will consider all relevant information and contributing factors, including weather related concerns, before being able to determine the cause of this crash.”
State police are assisting with the investigation, the release said.
The Maine Department of Transportation was called for snow removal once roads were reopened.
