NORWAY — Healthy Oxford Hills and Community Credit Union have partnered to present an interactive workshop focused on eliminating factors that contribute to community poverty.

Bridges Out of Poverty will be held March 10 between 9 a.m. to noon at the Ripley Medical Building’s Harper Conference Room at MaineHealth Stephens Hospital.

Participants are encouraged to register ahead. Onsite registration will also be available starting at 8:30 a.m. The event is open and free to the public.

The March 10 workshop is based on an introductory session developed by Community Credit Union, which has used the format to lead conversations on solving poverty in Lewiston and other communities.

Community Credit Union developed its Bridges Out of Poverty programming to promote financial education, economic opportunities and fight food insecurity within the communities it serves. Its team engages social, health and legal services professionals, businesses, churches, schools and social service organizations toward common goals that support and improve outcomes for community members to move out of poverty.

The town of Paris will be represented by its Development Director Tiffany Leahy.

“This is an opportunity for Paris to explore resources for our residents who may not qualify for general assistance,” explained Town Manager Natalie Andrews. “For programs based on income, a person on a disability may find themselves overqualified for assistance.”
