WHAT TO WATCH FOR: The title game is between one of the top programs in boys hockey over the past 15 years, Thornton Academy, and a team playing its first MPA season in nearly 20 years. The Golden Trojans have won three state titles since 2011 and were the runner-up once. This is their third Class A final in the last four seasons, included a championship in 2023. Kents Hill is in its first year of MPA competition since the 2005-06 season. … The Golden Trojans have only lost twice since the start of 2025, going 10-2-1 in their last 13 games. … Each team beat the other at its home rink during the regular season. … Thornton Academy was without starting goalie Drew Johnson in its 6-1 season-opening loss to the Huskies. … The Golden Trojans have eight players who have double digits in points, while the Huskies have seven. … Milan Angyalfi has been in goal for Kents Hill in 11 of the last 12 games. The Huskies are 8-3-1 in those 12 games. … Johnson hasn’t allowed goal in the Trojans’ two postseason games — wins over Windham/Westbrook/Bonny Eagle and Lewiston. … Jake Allaire and Skillings lead Thornton with four power-play goals. Gadbois, Moreau and Roy each have three for Kents Hill. … Skillings also has four of Thornton’s 10 short-handed goals. Gadbois has two of Kents Hill’s three short-handed tallies.
