Lewiston’s senior citizen property tax relief program is squashed again.
What is wrong with our City Council? Its members allow Lewiston Public Works to purchase $1.5 million every budget year for vehicles and equipment it doesn’t need. Take away two years of LPW squandering of our tax dollars, and the city can afford the program.
As a 28-year veteran of LPW and a 42-year Lewiston taxpayer, I am fed up with non-Lewiston taxpayers running the show. The waste at the bottom of Bartlett Hill is unbelievable.
If the council cares about the taxpayer, its members should take a ride down to LPW and the Ops Center, and they won’t believe how much new equipment is sitting idle.
