WEST PARIS — West Paris Water District’s secretary and office clerk was reinstated to her position Monday, two days after being placed on paid administrative duty.
WPWD’s office, located at 181 Bethel Road in West Paris, has resumed its regular hours. The two-day suspension did not result in any billing or other service disruptions.
Water District trustees voted 2-1 last Thursday to suspend Clairluz Perez Lisboa, following an executive session during an emergency meeting at the Town Office on Kingsbury Street.
Her reinstatement came during a second executive session held Monday morning.
“Clairluz is reinstated with conditions,” WPWD Trustee Chair told the Advertiser Democrat in an email Monday evening.
Last week, the motion to suspend Perez Lisboa was made by Treasurer Judy Boutilier, who was elected at the annual town meeting March 1. Chairman David Walton seconded the motion. Brandon Ballweber abstained from voting.
“You didn’t tell me anything that you and Judy had planned,” Ballweber said following Thursday’s executive session. “You just had an executive session and there was no getting into it.”
Walton said further discussion on the matter was not appropriate for a public meeting.
Employees are generally placed on paid leave when their employer initiates an investigation or needs to addresses a specific situation.
Last month, Androscoggin Savings Bank approved a $111,000 loan to the Water District to address a long list of deferred maintenance issues and repairs. It was reported then that the district’s finances had not been audited since 2021. HRH Smith & Co. of Buxton has been contracted to complete the outstanding audits.
