PHILLIPS — Madrid community members are sponsoring a spaghetti supper and themed basket auction in an effort to raise funds for their neighbors who lost their home and all its contents to fire on Sunday, March 2. Frank and Jen Militello arrived home from dinner out to find their home engulfed in flames. Engines from eight area fire departments were able to contain the fire to the structure, thereby saving small outbuildings and Reeds Mill Church. Their best efforts could not save the house. In addition to the loss of their home and all personal belongings they also lost all but one of their house pets. Goats, chickens and ducks were kept safe.
A benefit Spaghetti Supper and Auction will take place Saturday, April 12 at Phillips Elementary School. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. with dinner being served from 5:00 to 7:00. Auction drawing will be at 6:45. Cost is $10 for those 12 and older, $5 ages 6-11, and children 5 and under are free. For more information, please call 639-2713. This is not an MSAD 58 sponsored event.
