As a Maine hospitality industry food service professional tasked with procurement of roughly 130,000 shell eggs this coming season, I am worried about two things: Will there be an adequate supply available from my sole vendor to accommodate our guests? And, how can I react to egg prices and other staples, with some egg prices 350% higher than last year?

I called my vendor last week, who gave no assurances, instead offering that President Biden had destroyed the laying hens that had stopped laying due to gender identity crises, and that although fruit and produce prices could be sky-high due to the new administration’s tariff policies, it would all magically work out … in the MAGAsphere.

Trump promised to lower prices. Instead, he hasn’t addressed the shortage of eggs and he had levied tariffs on goods that will end up costing consumers even more.
